One Linguistics Concept Per Day

Hi, my name is Akira. Today's date is February 23rd, 2023. As of that date, I am an M.A. (Hons) Linguistics student at the University of Edinburgh! Follow me on Instagram!

I started this blog because I really enjoy linguistics and wanted to share that enjoyment with a wider audience. I also just want to have a little documentation for myself, and some motivation to revise every day. So far, the more specialised courses I've taken have been First Language Acquisition, Speech Processing, and Computer Programming for Speech and Languge Processing. In fact, it's my dream to do my PG Masters in Speech and Language Processing! I am currently also taking Discourse Analysis, Speech Synthesis, and a seminar on disentangling bilingualism and language impairments. Therefore, most of my daily posts until 4th year will probably be on those subjects.

Why is linguistics fun?

Anyway, as you may have seen from the title of this blog, my aim is to introduce everyone to a linguistics concept every day. I'll give a brief explanation of what the concept is and how it relates to linguistics more broadly. So far that's my only plan, but you might see more along the way. I'll update this page whenever that happens.

Bye for now!
